Public Domain music and Old hymnals

30 October, 2006 (16:01) | Site Info

By now, if you’ve visited this site before you know that much of the song that I’m familiar with comes in the form of Church hymns. Which, can be completely seperate in style from the classical piano traditions of my College music lessons… But anyway, the topic of copyright is something that I [...]

New Subdomain for Music downloads and CDs

28 October, 2006 (12:33) | Audio Recording, Site Info

I just wanted to let you know that I’ve added a subdomain to this site at music.ashevillemusiclessons.com which currently hosts information on the Chimes Volume 1 CD as well as the individual downloadable tracks. I hope that before long I’ll have more CDs to mention there.

Kawai CP95

24 October, 2006 (20:21) | Instruments, Site Info

Yes, we got a digital piano to replace the ca640 that died early last week. When we visited the store that we got the Kawai, I was expecting to ask about the CA5 7 or 9 that I’d looked at online. They didn’t have any in stock, but could get them from Kentucky. [...]

Chimes CD

24 October, 2006 (20:11) | Audio Recording, Site Info

I have a cd for sale. I just finalized things last night at lulu.com… I’ve called it Chimes Volume 1 mainly because I expect there will be a volume two…. I’ve taken many old traditional (public domain) hymns and done a fairly simple play of them. There’s nothing fancy. About 8 [...]

Shopping for a Digital Piano

20 October, 2006 (22:19) | Instruments

As I’ve mentioned, the old Kawai CA-640 has given up the ghost and so now, I’m looking for a replacement, because at this point a replacement sounds more promising (with even a limited warranty) than ~$700 to replace the computer board. I guess what makes me most skiddish is the idea that parts likely [...]

18 October, 2006 (10:58) | Audio Recording

This won’t be a full fledged review, but some of my first impressions with the Zoom H4 after a little bit of time with it yesterday evening and a bit this morning. First off, it’s a bit smaller than it looked to me in the pictures. The box is fairly good sized and [...]

Good day for a zoom h4 – bad day for a Kawai ca640

18 October, 2006 (09:35) | Audio Recording, Instruments

The good news, is that the Zoom H4 recorder came yesterday, the bad news is my Kawai CA640 digital piano abruptly gave up the ghost Monday. I called yesterday to Waldrop House of Music where we bought it and it just so happened their technician was in (He’s based out of Bristol, TN) and [...]

Need a quiet practice area?

1 October, 2006 (21:04) | Audio Recording

I know many people wouldn’t have the money for something like this, but…. vocalbooth.com and whisperroom.com sell a variety of small/medium size “kits” for “sound isolation enclosures” technically they’re not “soundproof” rooms, but isolation rooms. They start around $1500 give or take (and the price goes up with the room size…. the [...]
