Kawai CP95
Yes, we got a digital piano to replace the ca640 that died early last week. When we visited the store that we got the Kawai, I was expecting to ask about the CA5 7 or 9 that I’d looked at online. They didn’t have any in stock, but could get them from Kentucky. However, I was a bit reluctant to ask for something “sight unseen” that I might not like the action on…. so I tested what they had in store and settled on a CP95 which should work for the time being. This one doesn’t have wooden keys, but the action feels a bit more “faithful” than the old Kawai did. It doesn’t have the weighting adjusted up and down the keyboard like some of the newer ones do, but it was 1100 or so less than the CA640 was and should do. (Advanced Hammer Action III (AHA III) is what they call the action.)
I know people say the Yamaha has the best digital action, but without one that I could find to try out, I just didn’t want to take a chance. So…. we went ahead and got one. The really good thing about it was that we looked at it Saturday (on a “by appointment” visit.) and it was delivered Monday. If you’re in Western North Carolina and looking for an organ (Rogers) or piano (Kawai) you might want to look at Waldrop House of Music. They’ve been good to work with both times. They’re located in Hendersonville, to find them we’ve gone down to the Flat Rock (Upward Road) exit and then head over towards 25 and turn North towards Hendersonville, Brookdale Square (small strip mall) is on the right.
Anyway…. thought I’d give an update.
