Asheville Piano Lessons
I teach piano lessons for beginners to intermediate students at the Asheville Music School at 250 Charlotte Street in Asheville. I’ve had students in range from 5 years old up to retirement age and ranging in experience from beginner up through intermediate level. For the younger beginners I have used the Bastien piano series as well as Faber & Faber Piano Adventures (and more recently I’ve leaned towards recommending Faber and Faber.) I’ve also used other methods depending on the student. in some cases working with what they had started with in studying with another instructor.
For the adult beginners, depending on their taste and goals I’ve used either the Alfred’s Adult method or the Noona Clavier books. Noona Clavier takes more of a classical approach to learning the piano, Alfred’s focuses more on chord style playing.
I do try to supplement lessons with material from outside the method books and as the students are able to do more, we have even more opportunities to branch out to other materials. It’s of the greatest importance that students practice at home. For beginners, the amount of time will vary typically with the age of the beginner, very young beginners perhaps should get 15 minutes a day up to 30 minutes. 30 minutes a day should be enough for any age beginner, although some may find that they need more time to work with their music. The success of any student comes down to how much time they put in towards practicing.
Most of my lessons are 30 minutes and meet once per week. A typical month with 4, 30 minute lessons would cost $80. If you are interested in piano lessons in Asheville, please contact me to inquire for scheduling possibilities.
